Out and About in the Hudson Valley
The Hudson Valley is well known for its tourist attractions, from rock climbing in the Gunks to modern art at DIA Beacon or the historic home sites up and down the river. But what's it like to live here?
Apart from being able to enjoy these activities whenever the mood strikes, there are many lesser-known treasures and amenities the locals enjoy.
We don't have the space here to list every favorite restaurant, shopping spot, natural and historic site, or music venue, but we've put together a list of some of the closest destinations.
You'll discover a plethora of small, local businesses within a short distance to meet your needs and wants: farm stands, farmers markets, and CSAs; excellent medical care; spas and wellness; yoga and fitness; wine and liquor stores; cafes; bakeries and bagelries; NY pizza galore; a wide variety of restaurants from Culinary Institute chefs to family owned international cuisines; 6 miles from chain stores like Barnes and Noble, Home Depot, Target, Michael's, and so on.

Featured Local Business

Adams Fairacre Farms is a true Hudson Valley treasure. Owned by the same local family for several generations, it has grown to include five locations, and the Newburgh store is only 15 minutes away. The people are friendly, the store well appointed, and the selection and quality of food top notch. They have a great variety of both local and gourmet imported foods in addition to regular grocery. They even put on an amazing garden show every February when you're longing for spring!
